We are a dark and mysterious bunch of troubadours and vagabonds - At least that’s the way I thought of us, when I heard that there were rumors that we’d broken up. Someone (or something?) has tried to bamboozle us, but we never even broke stride. So let it die right here. We’re very much alive… in fact we love life SO much we just brought two more humans into the world just to prove it! We’ve been out playing shows, starting families, and recording a brand new Honeybrowne record that we’re very excited about. It’s called “Mile by Mile”, and we hope that you get your hands on one when it’s released in June.
We’ve been playing 2 to 3 shows per week, working feverishly during the week writing songs, and recording hits for your future listening pleasure. We are stoked - and can’t wait for everyone to hear it!!!!!
Pre-production started last year at Freddy’s house with songwriting rehearsals and demos were cut. We realized along the way that Fred’s living room was a wonderful space to cut drums, so earlier this year we had an engineer (Adam Odor) and our producer come out to Fred’s with a lot of recording gear and we tracked the drums right in the middle of his house. (Thanks Anne.) This ended up costing us a bit more, but we’re kind of audio geeks, and so we splurged. This laid back environment was accommodating during the day and lent itself to licentiousness with wine in the evenings. Ah, memories...
Most recently we’ve been tracking at the beautiful Aerie Studio in Austin, with Mark Addison at the helm. Bass was actually recorded at both locations, while guitar/ keys/ vox have been almost tracked exclusively at Addison’s studio. Damn, recording is fun! Especially when your done tracking drums and you get to mess with everyone else.
We’re in love with the new stuff and can’t wait to work it into the live shows. Like I mentioned, we’re releasing it in June, so keep your eyes peeled to the entertainment paper, your email, or our website for updates on CD Release Shows, radio performances, and in-stores. And for God’s sake, if we’re in your neck of the woods before then, come out and see us then too!
“Mile by Mile” is a record of new material that covers a lot of musical ground and shows the handy work of the different personalities in this band. There is something on it for everyone, and damn it, you can dance to it! (and I love exclamation points!!!!) Hell, people might even stop yelling “Texas Angel” as much at our shows; clamoring instead to here their NEW favorite song off “Mile by Mile”, who knows?
