What another great time at MUSIC FEST!!  Thanks Music Fog

Who's going?  See you there!

Yep, We are headlining Friday Feb. 25!!  We start around 10Pm.  Also The Neon Trees will be headlining Saturday the 26th!!  Should be a great weekend.

It was another wonderful time at MusicFest in Steamboat Springs CO, Thanks to Dickson Productions. I got to re-kindle old friendships and make new ones. I skied, snowboarded, gambled, sang, wrote a song, got drunk (more than once), ate great food (Thanks to Jason Strange), Laughed, watched some great bands and listened to some great singer/songwriters. I would say that I packed in every ounce of fun that I could, in 5 days. Oh yea, and I got paid to do it. Sometimes others are lucky and sometime you are! I'm not bragging, I'm just trying to explain the great time I had. To cap everything off, check out this great video of me singing on a gondola. Music Fog is this great website that post awesome live performances every day.

Fred Andrews and Honeybrowne – Indie Till We Sell Out EP (Smith Entertainment) 2010

Following on the heels of their full-length album, 2008’s Mile By Mile, singer-songwriter Fred Andrews and his band Honeybrowne have just released a six-song EP called Indie Till We Sell Out.

For the Texas Country music scene, Andrews and his talented pals in Honeybrowne have established themselves as a sort of laid-back, lets-not-take-ourselves-too-seriously sort of group. That said, there is certainly a place for them within this diverse scene.

Andrews and Honeybrowne take a Pat Green-styled side road on the countrified “Beautiful Waste of Time.” Nice background vocals and pedal steel work from Kim Deschamps.

And Andrews, who has a somewhat limited blue-eyed soul vocal delivery, sounds best on folk-groovers like “This Side of Crazy.” He is a little reminiscent of Jack Johnson here.

Bringing to mind the Neil Sedaka hit “Calendar Girl,” Andrews and the boys bounces through “I’m Not Saying Goodbye Today,” where days of the week are incorporated into the lyrics rather than the months of the year. It’s a corny, poppy tune but fun nevertheless.

Keeping with that “crazy” theme, “That Crazy Thing You Do” is a slice of alt-country whimsy while “When Good Love Dies” is more in line with 90’s-era adult alternative music a’la Freedy Johnston.

An upbeat cover of Johnny Nash’s 1972 hit “I Can See Clearly Now” wraps things up at the end of this pleasant EP.

Indie Till We Sell Out was produced by Andrews and songwriting pal and musician Mark Addison.

Still Moving up the charts, Mile by Mile slipped into the ninth spot this week on the Texas Music Chart! This chart adds up all the spins for radio stations in and around Texas that play Texas Music. On another note, had a great week of show including Lufkin and Galveston. This week we have two shows, Friday at Gilleys in Dallas and Saturday at Warehouse live in Houston.
